1901 lookup please/George William Chapman

Looking for George William Chapman born about 1853. He died in 1922 and is buried along with other Chapmans in Sittingbourne. His address at time of death was Westbourne St Milton/Sittingbourne. He may be shown as only William on census records.

have you got him on any other censuses
do you know if he was married in 1901 if so do you know his wifes name
do you know his occupation
do you know his birthplace
any bit of info could help us find him in 1901.

Hi

I have very little info on him at present. Only that he was possibly the older brother of George Henry Chapman (my mothers grandfather) born East Grinstead 1855. He is shown on the 1861 as William aged 8 with George Henry in the East Grinstead workhouse. I have followed George Henry from East Grinstead to Sittingbourne but not George William. Not sure if he ever married as he was buried 1922 alone in the same grave as his brother George Henry & Wife.

I have just found a possible on the 1901....George W Chapman aged 47 b Kent Flasham? occupation General Labourer V Beer. Address location Milton. Any help on this one would be appreciated.

1891 it only gives his initials but it looks promising

rose chapman age 38. b. olney,bucks. wife.
frances chapman age 66. b. dodington,kent. mother(widowed)
florence holmes age 10. b. canterbury,kent. neice.
living at albion shades,milton,gravesend,kent.
the birthplace of george ties in with the mothers birthplace in the 1901 census
but she has put a different birthplace down on this census.

It certainly looks the right person. Milton Gravesend is a strange concoction...Milton Sittingbourne would fit, but Milton Gravesend? I will have to check this out. Strange why he was buried with his brother and not his wife, unless she died in Gravesend before he moved to Milton Sittingbourne. The 1871 would be interesting if it's not to much trouble.

just re-read your original posting if you already have him in 1861 in east grinstead then the family i have posted cannot be the right one as this george is with his family in 1861.
what is the source citation for the east grinstead 1861 census only i cannot find him.

Thanks for all the help. I think the 1861 / 1871 are a different family as the wife is frances and the ages are wrong against 1901 1891 1881

If so, may we ask where the above information is from only I couldn't see a match in the GRO death indexes - the nearest I could see was George W E CHAPMAN age 48 in 1922 death registered in the Milton registration district.
