COMPLETED St Andrew the Great Cambridge Look up please- BOND
« on: Monday 18 May 09 12:52 UTC (UK) »

The IGI has a baptism of Reuben (no surname) parents Thomas and Sarh BOUD, on 8 Jan 1786 at St Andrew the Great Cambridge. It's a member submission, so I'll say no more!

If anyone has access to the transcript I'd be very grateful for a look up to see if this is real - I suspect it may be BOND rather than Boud.  If it's genuine could you also check the burials to see if he was buried prior to 2 April 1792 when the same couple baptised another Reuben at St Benedict Cambridge

Many thanks in advance

David

Hi David,
Haven't got the Pr's, but I 've looked on the Cambridgeshire baptism and burial indexes and Reuben Bond was baptised in 1786 at St Andrews the Great and there is a Rueben Bond bur in 1786 in St Andrew the great.
But to confuse matters there was a Reuben Bond bap 1787 at Cambridge St Edward and again in 1792 at Cambridge St Benedict.and there was a Reuben Bond age 2 bur in 1788 at Cambridge St Benet.
Not sure if this helps or hinders!

Hi Tempsford

Thanks very much for that information, which certainly adds another dimension to this already confusing family!

If anyone else can confirm the parents of the baptism and burial in St Andrew the Great I'd be delighted!

Hi,

I don't know if it helps but the Reuben baptised 1787 St Edwards was a twin,

9 Jun 1787
Reuben BOND
Relationship: twin son of
Father: Thos
Mother: Sarah
Place: Cambridge, St Edward

9 Jun 1787
Esther BOND
Relationship: twin dau of
Father: Thos
Mother: Sarah
Place: Cambridge, St Edward

It looks like Esther died the same year,

Esther BOND
19 Oct 1787
Age: infant
Parish: Cambridge, St Edward

Regards
Daisy

Hi David,

From the St. Andrew the Great transcripts:-

Baptism
Jan 8  1786  BOND Reuben son of Thomas and Sarah

Burial
July 10 1786 BOND Reuben infant

No parents are given for the Reuben burial and there is no BOUD at all in the surname list index

Best wishes,

Selina

You're a star Selina! Thanks very much. That confirms what I'd suspected - that the family were Bonds not Bouds. A complication for me is that one of my Bouds married a Bond!
