Welcome to rootschat Hattie, I'm sure someone will be able to help you but a little more information would be helpful - dates for the adults and children for a start.

James Durose married Florence Maud Griffiths - 3Q 1903 Birmingham 6d 223 - if you order the marriage certificate it will give you James and Florence's age and occupations at the time of marriage as well as both father's names and occupations. You'll find out where they were living and who were the witnesses. Might help you chase them back if you don't know anymore about the family. I can't find them in the 1911 census - but they might have been mis-transcribed.

Hello Laurina, thanks for your reply, I have James and Maud's marriage cert, I'm looking for their children or any grandchildren. Their daughter  would be about eighty now and Eric older if they are both still with us. I'm not sure which part of Kent they lived, I think they moved there because James was in the armed forces, so I'm hoping someone might know the family? regards Hattie

There is a Florence DUROSE age 28 along with a Grace age 6 and James age ?? in a military establishment in Aldershot 1911 which looks to be them http://www.1911census.co.uk/

A WW1 pension document for James lists children as James b 25 Sep 1908? Birmingham, Eileen Frances b 27 Aug 1911 Aldershot, Grace Maud Caroline b3/5 Oct1904 Birmingham.

There is an Eric J DUROSE (mother's maiden name GRIFFITHS) birth registered 1922 Birmingham and an Eric John DU-ROSE (born 15 Apr1922) death registered in the Ringwood & Fordingbridge district of Hampshire Jan 1993.

I have removed the younger sisters name from your posts in case she is still alive Wink

Many thanks for the information Casalguidi, it could be possible James and Maud had children older than P and Eric.  I have a living relative who remembers Maud and Patricia but not the other children.  The information about Eric looks positive, I've passed it on to an other relative who will look into it further, many thanks again.  regards Hattie

I'm just letting you know that I've found Florence and James Durose's  grandson, all I can say is,  he has the highest rank in the army and a peerage. Many thanks again for your help, regards Hattief
