Buist McKinzie Image query
« on: Monday 18 May 09 22:01 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone explain why the page that this image is cropped from starts with 5 entries from 1851 and ends with 2 entries from 1845. I am also curious to the meaning of the writing in between the 2 lines below McKinzie. What would be the reason for this Huh?. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards   JIm

I have no idea what the note in the left margin alludes to but it is in the same hand as the rest of your cropping and mentions a date in late 1854.  Could the strange chronology of the entries be the result of the Minister or Parish Clerk doing some "mopping up" of entries that had been previously missed before Statutory Registration began in 1855??

Also I'd say the surname is McKenzie - the writer's "e" is very tight, looks like an "i" but there's no dot above.

Your explanation sounds very plausible Anni B. The tight 'i' I have come across on a few other entries but it is McKenzie. Although it is stated that Margaret Buist is John's spouse they didn't actually marry until 1848, mmmmm

Thanks

Jim
