Hi
I would appreciate if anyone could look up this baptism for me?:
Richard Daniel Dumas bap. 19/5/1833 - St Matthew, Bethnal Green - this is from the IGI but am hopeful that the original record may be able to give further info - his parents were from France and as a novice - I'm daunted by the French side of research so hope to get as much info as possible from UK!...
I know his parents were Claudius and Jane Maria - and he had siblings Pierre (bap 4/11/1827) and Marie Louise (bap 13/11/1825) at St Leonards, Streatham.
Many thanks.....Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Im afraid I cant help you with a look up on the baptism you required, but I have ancestors who were Huguenots and they were mostly associated with St Matthews, Bethnal Green too.
I have a cd of the "Applicants and Inmates of the French Huguenot Hospital", and had a quick look at the surname "Dumas". There were 5 entries on it, but sadly all in French, but here are the names I found.
1. Andre Dumas, died 25 Nov 1730. Inmate of the hosp. 2. Anne Dumas (Nee ??) died Sept 1746. Inmate 3. Francoise Dumas (Nee ??) applicant of the hosp. 4. Judith Dumas, (Nee Moisans), died 18 Dec 1782, Inmate 5. Mary Ann Griffiths (Nee Dumas), Applicant.
It may not be anything to do with your family, but I thought you may be interested anyway. If you find that they are ancestors, then you should contact the Huguenot Society for further info.
I hope that is of use to you.....sorry I couldnt have found your baptism details that you were originally looking for.
Regards Hazel

Thank you very much Dawn and Hazel for your time and help.
In the end I have paid £15.00 to Lambeth Archives who offer a postal/research service and obtained copies of the originals.
Unfortunately they did not offer any further information than I already had...but you have to try...!!!???
Thank you once again.....sarah
p.s. to the moderator - this post can now be considered as complete - thank you
