I would very much like anyone who has ancestors with the surname of SHEARER from anywhere on the Shetland Islands to post what they know especially if they are also connected to SHEARER in Stronsay Orkney Islands.

Hi Tiffaney,

Not quite Shetlands! - I did note your Caithness connection.
However, I do have one blood relative from Wick that married a Shearer.
I haven't looked too closely at the line yet. It is my understanding that a number of Wick families moved there from the Orkneys / Shetlands.

I suppose that my info will be of little or no use to you.  Here goes anyway.....

Steven James b 10 April 1833 in Wick married Anna Shearer born circa 1832 on 21 Nov 1856 in Wick.


Sorry if this is of no interest to you - I'm fishing for possible connection to be honest.  Smiley  (no pun intended but Steven was a fisherman).

I do appreciate you for your interest and your posting..plus might I add your sense of humour!!...grand!!

I am certain some of our Shearers moved South from the Northern Islands & also over to Canada, Australia & New Zealand. 
 

Even the smallest info. can be the lead into more lines..so thank you Dave.
