Can anyone help me find the maiden name of George Litchfield's [born 1848 in Walgrave] wife Maria please?. 

Maria was born in 1850 in Hannington and I imagine they may have married in the Brixworth/Walgrave district [but I may be wrong] before she appears married in the 1871 census.

The first child Charles Litchfield is born in Walgrave in the Dec 1872 qt. Unfortunately freeBMD is not giving much away on this one.  Appreciate any help on this one.

possibly one of these ladies - go into FreeBMD and click on the 'spectacles icon next to each entry and see if it looks like the same page as the George Litchfield in the same Q / Year and Brixworth district

looks like its the first lass - Ms Dickens, based on this 1861 entry ..

1861 - RG9/950; Folio: 149; Page: 9 - Hannington

On the 1851 there is a Maria Dickens b. 1850 Hannington, living in Hannington with parents William and Mary   Cheesy

Can't see a Maria Mason b. 1850 Hannington  Wink

Maria Dickens mother, Mary, born  1823  Cookworthy, Northants  Wink

The birth certificate of any one of the children will tell you the mother's maiden name.

There is a baptism in Hannington parish registers for a
Maria daughter of William and Maria DICKENS 28th July 1850

I think I will call it a day on this as I am not really planning to research that far backwards on this one.

There are a few people on ancestry who all have just the name Maria. Perhaps something might come come up on genesreunited Grin

Richard  -  I think you will find that Maria was nee Dickens  Roll Eyes

As LKL says  - evidence found checks all the necessary boxes  -  married that quarter, b. 1850 Hannington - the record on the full gro index is clearly pg. 215 for the marriage of Maria Dickens Q2. 1870 Bloxworth , Found with parents ,b. 1850 Hannington in 1851 and 1861  Wink
