Hi dixons,

Have you seen this site - http://www.rootschat.com/links/06cv/? It has a lot of information on Jane and her children. Not a lot on her parents but looks as though they were Irish. Might be tricky finding information on them. Undecided

Regards

Hume,

Sincere thanks for info. Much appreciated. Yes, it would be nice if someone had more information re her parents, John Crowe and Mary Boyle. As usual, the Irish conundrum is a big problem but I'm ever hopeful that someone who reads this will have more information about the family.

John looks likely to have died between Apr. 1828 and Jan. 1830, the date when Mary re-married to George McMillan in Dundonald. The most you may get on him is a date of burial or death and the cause. Perhaps an age, depending on how detailed the records are. I don't see anything on SP for him under the new indexes.

Can't see a death entry for Mary McMillan/Boyle/Crow[e] either. Sad Possibly died before 1855 or moved out of the country.

Many thanks again. I too have been unable to find death details of Mary Boyle but details of John Crowe are most helpful.

Are you related to the Crowe family?

kind regards,

Not connected to the Crowe family, sorry.  Just an interested researcher. Smiley

Hello Dixon,

Here is the 1841. census for Calder Braes, Old Monkland, i am sure this is Mary Boyle, after she was married to George McMillan.

McMillan George M. age 30 years, Iron Stone Miner, born Ireland,
McMillan Mary, F. age 40 years, born Ireland,
McMillan Mary, F. age 10 years, born Outside census County,
McMillan Ann, f. age 7 years, born Outside Census County,
Crow William, M. age 15 years, Iron Stone Miner, born Outside Census County.

There is no sign of Jane Crow, with the family.

George Mcmillan, and Mary Boyle, had two daughters called Mary, and Ann, both born in Dundonald, Ayr. so that ties in with the family, also both George, and Mary, were born in Ireland, that also concurs with the information from the other site, but the important thing is William Crow, aged 15 years, John Crow, and Mary Boyle, according to the other site had a son William Crow, born in Ayr, about the same age as this William Crow.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hume/Jonn,

Thank you so much for your help. This has long been a mystery to me and, although there are 'conflicts' between both sets of info, I'm much further on than I was a week ago - thanks to both of you!

regards,
