Need help finding Surname

Hi,  Iam looking for a surname of one of my ancestors.  Her first names are Mary Ann, she was born in Stickey Lincoln in 1837.  She married a Hills Bates in 1856.  Have tried census, BMD etc. but no luck.
is there a place called Stickey?  Any help gratefully appreciated.   Flash16

Whats the source of the marriage being 1856 ?

Have you found them in the 1861 census ?

ah - are you assuming the marriage date from the age of the oldest child ?

FreeBMD shows a ??lls Bates marriage in Boston in the 4th q. 1856. There is a Mary Ann Pell on the same page.
