Hi, can trace the Tufts back to Hatton in 1871 and think my gt gt grandfather Thomas Tuft came from Donington Shropshire born c1841. The Dunbar/Donbar family I can trace back to1764 in Madeley. My gt grandfather William Adams was a baker in Shifnal born c1868.and married Eva Tuft. They had 12 children including my grandmother Dorothy. Beyond this the Adams line seems to keep eluding me.

Hi many thanks for info, one or two names i knew, but mostly new to me.The Tuft Bushbury link has proved very useful, i have been able to trace the line much further back now with one or two snags, but have managed to reach back to the early 1700's mostly in Bushbury. Also found christening dates for the 1851 children. Still working on the Adams. Once again thanks for your help, i appreciate it.

I have discovered that my gt gt grandfather Tuft apparently worked as gamekeeper for a land owning family named Kenyon-Slaney. Is this a well known family in the Shifnal area of Shropshire or were they in the past? Any info on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Carole,
Thats a surprise, I wasn't expecting them to appear as far west as Baschurch area, and it appears my family source got the names right, but the wrong way around! I was told that the head of the family was there at the time of my gt gt grandfather and that he was a colonel, I wonder if they moved estate in the later 1800's? Thanks for info.

Hi,
Can anyone help me with this one. I have records of two marriages ; Andrew Donbar to Ann Shepherd on 29/Aug/1798 at Little Wenlock and his son's marriage Isaac Dunbar to Mary Page on 30/Jan/1832 at Madeley. My problem lies in the fact that I seem unable to locate the birth records of not just one, but both brides!!! I feel sure that the answer is much easier than I seem to be making it, so if anyone can just nudge this particular search in the right direction again I'd be grateful.
PS The bridegrooms were both born in Madeley, 4/1/1764 and 25/5/1804 respectively if that helps.

That request should really be posted as a new message as it is separate from the other issues raised in this post
