Sorry if any of my posts are a little wacked, Um new to this

I'm trying to locate a member of my girlfriends family
His name is (Robert Mckinnon Thompson)

This is how it starts, the family has a picture of him standing next to the crashed plane of Rudolf Hess (May 10th,1941).I've found this photo on the net and also another of him standing at the site in a different position. So far as I can find the military group that were first on site were the 1st Renfrewshire and Bute Home Guard.I think he may have been with them.He may have been from Pollockshields,Glascow.This is all I know but would appreciate any help you can think of or find.
