I would appreciate a look-up in the 1851 and 1861 census in Derbyshire poss Chesterfield area
Robert Dennis b 1825 and his wife Matilda b 1824, both born in Farnsfield, Notts Children Mary Ann and Eliza In the index for 1851 they are transcribed as Dennes In the 1861 index its Dennis but I believe Matilda could be widowed though I can't find a suitable death for Robert
Thanks SC

And here in 1851 - indexed as Dennes.
1851 census has: HO107/2147/477/18 Derbyshire, Chesterfield Address - Holywell Street Robert Dennes, head, mar, 25, General Labourer Matilda Dennes, wife, mar, 26, Labourer's wife Mary Ann Dennes, daur, 5, Scholar Elizabeth Dennes, daur, 3, Scholar Eliza Dennes, daur, 1, Labourer's daughter Henry Freeman, wife's son, 8, Scholar Henry Fletcher, lodger, unm, 25, General Labourer, Derby Chesterfield
All others shown as being born in Farnsfield Notts
Do you have either of them in 1841 - it looks as if Matilda had either been married previously or had a son out of wedlock.

This might be a possible for Matilda - it is the only entry I have found for a Matilda Freeman in Notts.
1841 census has: HO107/867/12/53/16 Notts, Southwell Address - King St Matilda Freeman,18, F. S. Yes George Bosworth, 21, Bricklayer, Yes James Simpson, 40, Ag Labourer, Yes
(not living with her parents) The previous entry is for Thomas Elsam?, 40, Farmer, Yes and his family of four young children.

Could anyone please see if Matilda is around in 1871 possibly remarried??
On the 1871 index in Derbyshire a Louisa Dennis of correct age is showing with mother Matilda but there is also another parent name there and it's not a Robert Have not found another marriage for Matilda yet and this might help
Louisa gets married in 1872 - they are all very young when they get married
Thanks SC
