Hi, list I,m looking for the birth of Margery Ollibarston, I know she married Rowland Henshaw at ST. Mary,s Ilkeston 13 May 1615. there are no others of that surname in the PR. Best Wishes Clive

Hi,
Looks as if this surname is incorrect as it does not appear in any form on the IGI or national archives. So the usual question have you seen the original entry or just a transcription?
If you have seen the original entry and it is still Ollibarston, then probably the surname was new to Ilkeston,
with the bride/groom being unable to write, the cleric has not entered the correct spelling for the surname.
Wondered if you had considered Osbiston/Osbaston as a possible.

Hi, Spendlove, my informatin came from a transcription of the PR by Stephen Flinders , a very good local historian.He said when Iwrote to him that the Henshaw family arrived in Ilkeston in the 17c i asked him if he knew where they came from, and he said the family will be in the 2nd vol. of Ilkeston families.I had not consideered either Osbiston/Osbastion. As I thought it would be unusual for stephen to make a mistake. I will have to try those names out. Best Wishes Clive

Hi,
Not suggesting that Stephen made an error in the transcription, as I said it is quite probable that the
name Ollibarston, or whatever it should have been, was the first time the cleric had heard the name
and with very strong accents, bride unable to read or write etc., gives a combination for the error
to be in the original entry.

Hi, Sendlove, If anyone is in error it,s me, I never gave a thought of accent. I think they both came from the surrounding district, I will wait till stephen,s vol 2 comes out. Best Wishes clive
