Thomas Walsh was born in Wexford, Eire 12 August 1915. His father was Patrick Walsh who was a Seaman and his mother was Bridie (Bridget ?). Thomas married in Lincolnshire, England . I know very little about Thomas's ancestors and would greatly appreciate any more information or guidance for finding more. Thank you.

do you know where in Co. Wexford Thomas was born (from his birth cert) ?
if so you should be able to find his parents on the 1911 census - see : http://census.nationalarchives.ie

Hello Shane, Thank you for your prompt reply. I do not have a birth certificate for Thomas and I am afraid I do not know how to obtain one. I do not have an address in Ireland. He was living in England at the time of his marriage. Do you know where I would find information for obtaining a birth certificate ? Sorry but I am an amateur at this but would keep trying. Margaret

you can search index to Irish BMDs on a familysearch index at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable
if you find a good match you can order a cert from the GRO (www.groireland.ie) using the index details
there are a number of Thomas Walsh births in Co. Wexford - so it might be difficult to narrow down the right one. if you are 100% certain of the year then it looks like there is a good possibility with this one :
Name: Thomas Walsh Registration district: Wexford Record type: Birth Registration date - quarter and year: Jul - Sep 1915 Volume: 4 / Page: 611
this map show approx coverage of the Wexford registration district : http://www.rootschat.com/links/05d7/
Hopefully Patrick & Bridget were married by 1911 and could show up on the census ... Since Patrick was a seaman I am assuming that the family would be located in one of the coastal areas, probably a town.. Do you know if Thomas had any siblings ?

Exciting information, Shane. Thank you so very much. I do know that Thomas had 2 sisters and that one of them was named Margaret. I do not know if she was younger or older than Thomas. I willcertainly order the birth certificate as I agree it looks most likely and worth a chance. Best regards Margaret

Hello Shane, I have been on the site to order a birth certificate and they must have the birth name of Thomas's mother. I do not know that. Also can they be ordered on line as I could not find a reference to that query ? Sorry to trouble you. Margaret

the forms on the GRO site are not really designed for orders based on the familysearch index. Just fill in the required index details (name, record type - birth, year/quarter, registration district, volume e & page) anywhere on the order form, or attach on a separate page
I believe orders are currently taking about 4 or 5 weeks to process.
they dont have an online ordering system at the moment

Hello Shane, I have obtained a little more info: recently with ref: to Thomas Walsh . His sisters name was not Margaret-apologies for my error-it was Maureen. There was also a brother but I do not know his name. At some time Thomas was living with his mother at 9 Brides Place,Wexford. Father Patrick who was in the Navy had died when Thomas married in 1942. His sister Maureen married a gentleman with the surname Butler. What I am pleased with , is that I have Thomas's marriage cert: and it notes that he was in the Royal Navy and I have his number PL/X 23952 and he was a Hairdresser (barber) Steward stationed at Royal Navy Camp, Belmont Camp,Hampshire. I am still no further forward with more info:on Patrick and wife. I will send for a Birth cert for Thomas with the info: you kindly gave me. Perhaps I might get somewhere with his service information. Any advice from anyone on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated . Regards Margaret
