Hi Kim,
I have Belinda born 1848 in Smithtown and Thomas Wm born Nov 29 1868 in Killala to Edward Sweeney and Barbara Walsh.
I have a note stating a Belinda Sweeney  married Anthony McCawley but have no other information.

The alphabetical Index to townland has 2 Ballygowans in Mayo, one in the parish of Kilcolman and the other in Killala. There is a Smithtown around Ballina, which is not far from Killala.

Hello,
you perhaps have this as you have quite a bit of info re children.
http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/
1901 census

Ballinagavna Kifian Parish

Edward Sweeney 85 yrs farmer
Barbary (!) 70 yrs wife
Celia 38 yrs daughter not married
Albert 31 yrs son not married

Edward is the only Sweeney in Ballinagavna townland and in Kilfian parish

Griffiths Valuation has an Edward Sweeny in Ballinagavna
http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_family_search_form.php

you can click on a map on this site and Smithstown and Ballinagavna is there. At times I am finding the map a bit difficult though  Huh
I find the google map much easier.

best wishes
