Need a Gander found
« on: Saturday 23 May 09 23:24 UTC (UK) »

Am trying to track down Harriett Gander.
She married George Coates in Oct 1851.
In 1861 Lewes All Saints has, born abt 1828 Lewes
   In 1871  Southover Lewes   "   "      "    1833   "
   In 1881 Hove                        "    "     " 1833   "
There is one in 1891 with a Charles Coates, born abt 1822
Nutley. But I am not sure if she is mine as he isn't on the
1861 census with my Harriet and her husband George and the
first child listed there is Mary Jane born Jul 1852.
Charles there was born Brighton abt 1851. I found a birth for
a Charles Coates on the GRO Mar qtr 1850 Brighton
I have not found her in the 1841 or 1851 census. Her father is
William Gander, a taylor according to her marriage cert on the
   PRs for St Michaels Lewes.
Finding her on the 1841 and or 1851 would be super.
   Ta muchly

Hi Eds

On both the 1841 and 1851 census there is a Harriet Gander in Lewes,  in 1851 she says born Lewes.

Her father is a tailor  -  but his name is James   Sad  Undecided

The refs are:  1841 : HO107.  P. 1120/4   Fl. 12  Pg. 18

ahhhhh ta for that, I have seen the James and dismissed
   them cause of his name.
You now have me thinking maybe I should get the GRO
marr cert. Maybe the clergy had the wrong father.
   Thanks again
