Michie-Paterson
« on: Sunday 24 May 09 02:10 UTC (UK) »

My grandparents x5 are James Michie dob 23 Dec Alloa, parents John Michie and Margaret Snaden.
And Charlotte Paterson Huh
SP gives me details of children born to this couple.
Ann 1771 (my direct line)
James 1775. James 1777. George 1779. Jean 1782. Robert 1786.

I can find no marriage on either SP or IGI.
As a matter of fact can find no evidence that Charlotte Paterson existed and I have tried every which way.

Another researcher on Anc***** has this same James Michie (same dob and parentage) married to an Agnes Waterstone in 1778, but their first child is born 1782 (James) so am inclined to think this does not fit in with my tree.

Where on earth do I go from here, the poor woman must have existed somewhere..but where Huh

Pls help someone.

As always Patvp

Oh dear - This is going to take some sorting out. Goes back to Ann/Agnes Marshall, her death cert states parents James Michie (ploughman) decd and Charlotte Michie m.s. Paterson, as I have said can find no marriage for them, nor can I find a birth for Ann/Agnes (official) all the other children are verified by SP.  Huh Don't tell me I am on the wrong track  Roll Eyes
There is another James born 1742 to James Mitchie and Jean Renny also at Alloa.. damn, more credits..Ann/Agnes is the bain of my life...what a mess

Patvp,

I've got John Michie born 1729 Alloa married Margaret Snadon who was born Alloa 1700. John and Margaret were married in Alloa in 1720. Margaret's parents were William and Catherine Snadon. I'm also researching the Snadon family from Alloa/Clackmannan area.

yours

Oops got that wrong Patvp1,
John Michie was born Alloa in 1729. He married Margaret Snadon. Margaret's parents were William Snadon born 1700 Alloa and Catherine Snadon born 1700 Alloa. William and Catherine were married in Alloa in 1720. I don't have a birth date for Margaret Snadon. Thanks for getting 1728 birth for her.
That's the only Michie I have in my tree.

The only Charlotte Paterson I can find in that area was a marriage on 17 Dec 1824. This was in Alloa to a James Hunter. But that is about 50 years from the date you are looking for.
