Hi
Free and on line - the Bishops' Transcrits.
1. Go to http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch 2. Click on Europe on the map 3. Click the last entry in the UK list - England, Diocese of Durham Bishops' Transcripts 4. Click on Durham (North Durham is in Northumberland) 5. Scroll to the Parish you want, click 6. Select the dates you want (if they are there) 7. Scroll through the images
There is a fairly large sample of records (about 1750 to 1850) but there are gaps and to fill those you will have to go to the Record Office.
Good hunting

Hi
Not quite as good as I hoped. Hetton should appear as part of Houghton so they may be OK. Dalton-le-Dale seems to be missing and that means Murton is also missing. I do not know Rockington.
Sorry

Hi
IGI has a submitted entry for the following marriage
GEORGE DUNN & MARGARET CARR on 13 February 1825 at Houghton-le-Spring
Maybe be a start but will need to be checked against the actual register

Hi again
Follow the instructions given by Gobbo and select Houghton-le-Spring from the list of parishes
select "1822-1830" from the dates offered
when the first page displays, enter 201 in the "Goto Image" box
the marriage is the middle one on the left-hand page
Hope it's the one you're looking for
John

Hi
The marriage is recorded in the Bishops' Transcripts - see Houghton le Spring, 1822-1830, image no. 201. The entry is recorded on the rather basic marriage form that was popular in those days and gives very little information over and above the IGI entry:
"Marriages solemnized in the Parish of Houghton le Spring in the county of Durham in the Year One Thousand eight Hundred and Twenty-five .... George Dunn of this Parish and Margaret Carr of this Parish were married in this Church by Banns this Thirteenth Day of February in the Year One thousand eight hundred and Twentyfive By me Daniel Crosthwaite Curate This Marriage was solemnized between us George his X mark Dunn Margaret her X mark Carr now Dunn In the Presence of George Wilson Michael Dakers"
George Wilson was probably a Parish official since he seems to witness all the weddings. Michael Dakers witnessed this wedding and the one immediately following between William Cummins and Ann Herbert.
All the best

I just found this thread ... and wouldn't you know it, the one I want is in a gap in records ! 1864, Stockton-on-Tees ...
Bother !
I'll have to search a bit more, and see if I can find the marriage of her (my gr. grandmother's) parents in 1840-ish ...
Thank you for drawing my attention to that site ...

Hi,
The lady born in North Blyth will not be found in Durham records - it's in Northumberland!
Back then there was a little enclave north of the River Blyth which belonged to Durham so everything relating to that area up to about 1845 (I think) gives Durham as the county but records now are with Northumberland.

Hi
It looks as if IGI has indexed births in Houghton le Spring for the early years of the 19th century and there is no entry there for George Dunn. There are two births of a George Dunn in Durham between 1804 and 1808 in the IGI:
1. GEORGE DUNN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 19 FEB 1804 Heworth, Durham, England 2. GEORGE DUNN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 25 JUN 1808
All the best
