George Bridges Alexander Black
« on: Saturday 11 March 06 14:39 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I was wondering where I might be able to find infor about George Bridges Alexander Black?  He was born In Camberwell and married in Lambeth in 1873.  He was an artist, sculptor and painter.  Would any of his work still be around?  Or any reference to him within artistic circles?  I have no idea where to start looking!

TIA

Hi

Just doing some housekeeping on the London and Middlesex boards and going through the oldest posts. Now there are further resources available it gives a chance for old posts to be looked at again to see if the information can be found or the chance for posters to say whether this information has been answered and this topic can be completed. If it can be completed please put completed into the title of this topic and it can be moved to London and Middlesex completed (it is never lost off Rootschat) giving more space for other topics to be looked at again by all of us to see if we can help. If you are still looking for the information perhaps you can now add further details to help others search again for you.

Regards

Other than census information if you wanted to find out something about his career as an artist since he died in Croydon in 1922 and lived there from at least 1911 you might try Croydon local studies library to see if they have anything on him or art galleries like the Tate or the National to see if they have ever heard of him. He was not a member of the Royal Academy - their database is online.
