I've sent a message to the owner of the tree. It seems from her profile that she lives in Ontario, Canada so maybe knows more than we do about Mary and John's life over there!

John Henry is on the 1901 as a widower with his children. They are living at 32 Heslington Rd, York.

Do you think it is possible that they did not marry? I have a similar case in my own tree. The lady in my avatar picture was married to a Walter Bland on the 1911 census, though not living with him. In 1912 she is travelling to Canada with her new 'husband' though there is no trace of a marriage between them and her first husband is still alive!

I have found the following marriages and deaths which could fit in with your John Stier.

Marriage Sep Q 1877 York 9d 23
John Henry Stier
Annie Wood Bramald

Same marriage on ancestry states that the marriage took place on 26th Sep 1877 on York. Grooms father Frederick and Bride's father was Joseph.

Can't find a death for Annie.

Marriage Dec Q 1879 York 9d 114
John Henry Stier
Mary Jane Groves

Mary Jane Stier Died Mar Q 1897 aged 35 York 9d 28

Marriage Jun Q 1904 York 9d 46
John Henry Stier
Blanche Sunman

Blanche Stier died Jun Q 1926 aged 46 York 9d 46


Perhaps not all him, but could be!!

From the names in that lady's story I'm guessing that Blanche was her grand mother and not another wife of your John Henry!!
