The top one that geniecolgan found sounds like he may match the family I found above, since the tree said Henry died in Limestone County, so it may not be your guy.  Any chance the one with the race listed as "Negro" is yours?

Hi,

Most does match,  I a little confused that he married in 1920, and then married Mabel here in UK in 1944? Bigamist???  Also father was down as deceased.

My sister has found a photograph of him and his wife with her late husband when he was about 4. (1974)

Until I search records of deaths in 1970's here in UK cannot be sure.  Was hoping to confirm everything with certificates.

My sisters mother in law has never mentioned him dying in US.  I noticed on The gene link that the brother in law says it's his family.  But want to be positive.

Thanks Cancan. Smiley

Hi Cancan

Looks like he definitely the Limestone Alabama chap.
His Army serial number which you have,  is a match

Search it, here:

http://aad.archives.gov/aad/fielded-search.jsp?dt=893&cat=WR26&tf=F&bc=,sl

His army serial number you have, I hope came from the English marrriage record or from the birth of their son?

Cheers  Grin

Hi Cancan

Another place to search Army record is here, with more information provided:
Search for: Eddie C McClendon
http://go.footnote.com/wwii_heropages/?xid=319

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tammysmcclendons/report.html
Lists the family in Alabama. It says Eddie's first wife was: Bertha Wakefield. Nowhere does it say he had a sister named Bertha.
It also says he had 2 children with her, prior to WW2 enlistment, then a number of other children with Pearlie between 1947 and 1957 even though he did not legally marry Pearlie until 1973. I wonder if the 1973 marriage co-incides with the death of Mabel nee NEWBIGGIN?

Cheers

Finda Grave website
Has a record of , and a picture of, Eddie Carl McCLENDON's headstone in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery  Limestone, Alabama.
His parents are also buried in same cemetery.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/06gj/
The photo has been provided by a person, who if you google Eddie's name - has been posting messages about him over the years  - think she is a grandchild.

I suppose the key is, which headstone marks the place where he is actually buried (Alabama?? ) and which a memorial to him only (England on his son's headstone??)

It also gives a date of death of 1 Feb 1978, whereas other information says 31 Jan 1978. Have you been able to search the Death Indexes for Englan, March Qtr 1978 for any sign of a death registration there?

Pearlie is buried in a different Cemetery:

Hi Ambly,

It is Eddie's son Carl E McClendon who is buried here with his son(sisters husband)

Cannot get to LDS Church until next Monday, as they were closed today for an occasional day.

This information is great, have clicked on all links and will contact person who placed info.

The only other thing is Mabel,  Eddie's wife outlived Eddie!!! Shocked Shocked
(according to sisters mother in law.)

Thanks for info, will update if I hear from Lady who posted all details of Eddie!!

Thanks Cancan
