I'm looking for William Hendry (b.circa 1848,Methven, Perthshire) and his wife Kate (or Catherine) Cook (V.circa 1852 Tibbermore) and their son William b. circa 1882 Methven. Last found on the 1891 Scottish census residing with Kate's father John Cook at Huntingtower Orchard (as far as I know, the house in front of Huntingtower Castle). Does anyone have any clues? Thanks! PS. I'm a newbie to rootschat but not to research and I'm hopelessly stuck!

I was just about to say: that was quick! Thank you so much! I've been searching for them both but couldn't find them. I was caught out on another spelling of Catherine. The last time I looked for a Catherine in Scotland I eventually found her as "Cetren", which makes sense to the enumerator's ears I guess...but not mine.
While I have you...I don't suppose you might know where I can get records of the Royal Lunatic Asylum in Perth? My Catherines' older brother John Cook was an inmate there in 1861 at the tender age of 23.
Thanks again!

I would try contacting the Perth and Kinross Council Archives www.shrunklink.com/cnfw (I've shrunk the link as it is quite long) and asking them what records remain for this period.

I'll be back in Perth in September and will spend another day or 2 at the archives @ the AK Bell Library, haven't been for a while...4 years... but they are most helpful, especially to those like me - the colonial cousins from the Antipodes who have little time to spare. Spent 4 solid days there last time with brilliant customer service.
Many thanks to all!
