Given that  he had a daughter, Grisel,  this looks like it could be Nathaniel Corrie's baptism on SP:

15 June 1765, Irongray.  Nathaniel Corrie. Parents - William Corrie and Grissel Milligan

Will see if I can find more about it to confirm

Children showing in OPRs for Nathaniel and Janet:

18 Feb 1792 - John (K D)
3 March 1794 - James (KD)
3 Aug 1796 - Janet (KD)
12 June 1803 - Jean (Parton)
18 Dec 1809 - John  (Parton)

not found - Agnes (circa 1807), Nathaniel (circa 1801) and Grisel (circa 1806)

There is another bpt for a Nathaniel:

17 Feb 1765, Kirkbean, Father James Corrie

Kirkbean is to the south east of the county, wheras Irongray is not too far from KD,  so still not sure. His baptism might not be on record  Undecided

From his death record, John McCartney who died 1860, KD (see previous post) had parents - Peter McCartney, farmer and Ellen, maiden surname Paterson, both deceased.

So a new summary:

James Corrie's parents apppear to be John Corrie and Hellen McCartney

John Corrie's parents - Nathaniel Corrie and Jannet Clingan

Nathaniel Corrie - ?

Janet Clingan's parents - John Clinga(e)n and Grissel Glover

Hellen McCartney's parents - John McCartney and Sophia Wilson

John McCartney's parents - Peter McCartney and Ellen Paterson

Sophia Wilson - ?

Monumental inscription for Kirkpatrick Durham:

Patrick McCartney of Upper Macartney d. 5 June 1815, aged 80
In memory of his wife Grizel McGeorge, d. 28 May 1775, aged 25
his widow Helen Paterson, d. 17 May 1821.

Helen, mother of John, was obviously Peter/Patrick's second wife.

Note that Peter and Patrick were used interchangeably in Scotland
Also, Hel(l)en and El(l)en.
