Dolly Dughie
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 14:01 UTC (UK) »

Hi

Does the name Dughie ring bells with anyone?

I am trying to find out if Dolly Dughie was a relation and/or friend of my husbands grandmother. All I know about her is her name and she was born c1900.

Scotlands People gives no hits with the exact name but 1,000's with soundex!

Can anyone help?

Regards
Rainbow

I think the surname might be Duggie. Possible 1901 entry for Dolly (thank goodness she showed with that name as possible a pet name):

W E Duggins 35, grocer, b. Rowditch, Woodshire
A Duggins 38, b. Rowditch, Woodshire
Lily Duggins 13, b. Preston
Archie Duggins 12, Preston
Charlie Duggins 7, b. Liverpool
Dolly Duggins , b. Liverpool

Address: 50 Duncan Avenue, Renfrew

Sorry Rainbow  Tongue Dolly's age in 1901 shows as 6, so born c. 1895.

Hi Monica

I have spoken to my mum in law and she is sure Dolly was born in Scotland so it is doubtful that is the right family.

She remembers seeing an obituary a couple of years ago so I think I will try looking into that.  It may have been in the Glasgow Herald.

Thanks for the info anyway.
