I have no connection to your family but I think the townland you are looking for is Cavandarragh (or perhaps a variant spelling of same).

Hello rr

as promised I had  little look around.

http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/tyrone/ardstraw.php

At above link, you will see that there was still a Samuel Carson in Drumclamph at time of Griffiths. There is also only one Buchanan recorded, a John, but also at Drumclamph, not Cavandarragh (although there is a Robert Carson there).

This would certainly suggest, though, that possible connections to your Buchanan/Carson did indeed remain in Ireland.

Further, it may be worth contacting the author of the following
http://www.mccaskie.org.uk/Gill.htm
http://www.mccaskie.org.uk/Neilands.htm
given it makes mention of Buchanan and Drumclamph.

Or also:
http://www.geocities.com/genealogist@sbcglobal.net/buchurneyardstraw.html broken link
Or also:
http://www.geocities.com/genealogist@sbcglobal.net/mybuchan.html broken link

And an interesting Buchanan of Ardstraw snippet at:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Buchanan/default.aspx?section=results

You may have seen all of above before, if not happy reading/hunting.  There is more on the net, just google.

you can see the townlands are beside each other and can zoom in/out or pan around the area.
