Searching for a lost Bridger
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 16:31 BST (UK) »

I wonder if anybody can help. I am trying to trace a George Bridger. He was born about 1834 in Penshurst, Kent, England. I found him in the 1851 Census and then he vanished off the map. He was christened 13 Dec 1835. I am hoping that he did emigarte.

He was the son of Edward Bridger and Sarah Martin.

I know this is nothing to go on but maybe someone will recognise this individual.

Thank you

I assume the george bridger b Penshurst married to Ann is not the correct one??

Could you post details of 1851 census ?? The George I have on 1851 is a servant - and seems to be the one who married Ann and appears on all census to 1901?Huh

the christening record you have - did you get it from the IGI???

If so -it is only a submitted record and as such has to be treated with caution.

George Bridger b. 1835 to Henry Bridger and Eliza is the 1st cousin of the George Bridger b. 1834 to Edward Bridger and Sarah Martin.

I have traced George the son of Henry from birth, christening, the 1841 census to the 1911 census and then his death. All I have been able to trace for George the son of Edward is his birth, christening and the 1841 census.

Suzard - in 1851 George the son of Henry is an unmarried farm labourer working at Coles Farm, Chiddingstone, Kent, England.

I have been looking at this for quite some time now but to no avail. It has been tricky sorting out the lineage when members of the same family call their children the same name and live in the same area!
