Benjamin TURNER from Mursley
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 23:06 BST (UK) »

Hi.
My gg grandfather Benjamin Turner was born in about 1831 in Mursley in Bucks.  He married a Jane Rich in Soulbury on 18 Oct 1853 and he died in Mursley in 1881.  I have a copy of his marriage certificate but unfortunately his father was dead when Benjamin got married so I have no details. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the family to help restart my investigations.
Thanks
Heidi

Sadly not. It just says "Dead" and the same for his spouse's father.

In 1851 he is indexed as Tenney and was working as an agricultural servant at Dean Farm in Stewkley

I'm still checking the 1841 to see if I can find him with any family

No luck at all finding Benjamin on the 1841.  Mursley came under Winslow so I have even searched for all Benjamin's in Winslow

OK thanks... Is it likely that the Benjamin with the Rich family was the same Benjamin?

OK. Well if it's any help, the witnesses to the marriage were a Thomas Jarvis (not sure of the surname for sure) and an Isaac Corfratti (again not sure of the surname - the writing is really hard to decifer!)

In 1851 Ellen Rich was in the Newport Pagnell Union Workhouse and Jane was working as a servant in Newton Longville and her surname is indexed as Kich

HO107 Piece 1723 Folio 19 Page 7

Now all we need is a breakthrough with Benjamin!!
