Weeks family from Bristol.
« on: Monday 27 July 09 16:30 UTC (UK) »

Hello  Grin
I am related to Weeks that came from the Bristol area, namely a William Shadrach Weeks who left the area in the 1800s and moved to London. Would anyone have any information?

you don't give a specific date or many details, but is this the William Shadrach Weeks aged 44 whose death is registered june qtr 1871 in Wandsworth?

I can find him on the 1871 census with wife Eliza and 4 children, but haven't found the family as yet on the 1861. Do you have a birth certificate for one of the children to establish Eliza's maiden name? Having her maiden name would enable you to find their marriage registration and the certificate would give details of William's father.

If son George on the 1871 is the eldest child, this is a possible for the marriage reg, but birth cert needed to confirm

William Weeks march qtr 1853 Clifton vol 6a pg 233 with Eliza Maggs on the same page
There's an extracted marriage in IGI batch M008473 for Westbury-on-Trym for this with a date of 13/3/1853.

Thank you for your reply  Smiley. It is the William Shadrach Weeks that I am related to. His wife was Eliza (Elizabeth) George.  I am descended from their son - Frederick William Weeks who was born 11/12/1858 in Poplar.

I'm looking for information about where they were born and any forebears that they had. Frederick W Weeks was my Gran's grandfather, and myself and my uncle are trying to find out about the Weeks side of our family.

You need to tell us what info you already have e.g. census info, bmds you already have, what you have searched and what you are still looking for.

Do you have the 1851 census entry for William & Eliza? Do you have their marriage cert? If so, what are the names & occupations given for the 2 fathers.

Eliza George june qtr 1847 Bristol vol 11 pg 183 with Shadrach Weeks on the same page

Possible from 1841? Marriage cert needed to confirm father's name

Hi,
I have some cenus data from later on, namely 1871, and 1881, 1891 and 1901 - but  relate to Frederick William Weeks. I have Frederick William Weeks birth certificate. Though that is the total that I know about the Weeks family.

then how about getting the marriage cert for Eliza George and (William) Shadrach Weeks to find out the name and occupations of borth their fathers?
This could help to find them in an earlier census and may confirm if the 1841 census I posted above is correct. Have to say, I'm struggling to find William & Eliza in 1861, but there are parts of that census missing.

Undecided
