Goldsmith/Foreman/Wakefield
« on: Tuesday 16 November 04 14:02 UTC (UK) »

Hi !!

Can anyone find the following on the 1851/1861/1871 Censuses.

I am looking for the family of George Goldsmith and Celia Ann Foreman, formerly Wakefield.  They were married in 1827 in Minster, Kent.  Both born around 1804. (Have not got birth dates unfortunately).  They must have moved to Lynsted, Kent in 1847 as Edith Goldsmith, their daughter was born there.

Celia Ann Wakefield's first marriage was to a James Foreman around 1819 but have no other information of this or any family they had.

Edith Goldsmith their daughter was born in Lynsted in 1847 and had two marriages, first to a Daniel Golding in 1869 Lynsted (no knowledge of any children), and then to John William Sales in 1872 Lynsted.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi Hoppity,

This isn't exactly what you are looking for, but it all seems too coincidental to be the wrong Celia (sorry about the husband)!

1861

Lynsted St, Lynsted, Kent

Robert Goldsmith   abt 1790    Linsted, Kent, Head, Ag. lab.
Celia Ann Goldsmith   abt 1807    Ulcombe, Kent, Wife
Edwin Goldsmith   abt 1842    Linsted, Kent, Son
Alfred Wm Goldsmith   abt 1844    Linsted, Kent, son
Edith Goldsmith   abt 1848    Linsted, Kent, Daughter

Cheers,

Ros

Hello,

I am descended from Caroline Wakefield, sister of Celia Ann who married first Thomas Foreman and then George Goldsmith.  I would be interested in anything further you may have on George & Celia.

I am happy to share my info with you.

Regards

Hi Keith,

Very nice to hear from you.

I have got Celia Ann's birth of 5.1.1806 in Alcombe, Kent.  Her marriage to George Goldsmith on 2.12.1827 in Minster, Isle of Sheppey.  Their Children: Edith, Edwin, Alfred, Obediah,  Adelaide, Charity, Timna?, Rachel, Emily, from the 1841 Census, and Eliza and Ann from the 1851 Census.

Edith Golding, formerly Goldsmith married my John William Sales in Goudhurst in 1847.

Sadly I dont know much about Celia's first husband James Foreman other than I think he was born around 1794.

Edmund Wakefield and Mary Rose were Celia's mother and father according to the censuses.  They had Thomas, Celia, Sophia, Mary, Edmund, Joshua, James, Martha and Amelia, from 1806 to 1826.  I havent got a Caroline in the history though?

I havent done much work on this family as yet as I have got sidetracked on to other things, as so often happens when doing the family history.

You can always send me a private message if needed but I hope this helps a little.

Best wishes

Pauline, Celia Ann WAKEFIELD married a Thomas FOREMAN in Lenham (near to Ulcombe) in 1823 according to the mid Kent marriage index http://woodchurchancestry.org.uk/midkentmarriages/index.php

Hi Casalguidi,

Thank you!

The first name of James came from the LDS site and it stated that there were three children of the marriage but not available at the time of census.  LDS said that the marriage was around 1819 but my Celia Ann would have been too young to be married as she would have only been 13 years old.  The information just didnt seem right especially as Celia Ann married George Goldsmith when she was 21 years old.  Maybe this was another relation??

Anyway this marriage seems more correct.  Where can I get a copy of this parish record to see if there is any other information mentioned on it?

Thank you very very much!

Kind regards
