Not sure that it was Jeanie Little if that James died - unless the twin died and the remaining baby became a James!
Marriage cert necessary - no point in looking for Jeanie Littles until it's sorted.

Here's a snip from the Caerlaverock death cert.
What was the date of informing (far right column) on the birth cert.? This was 6th May so informed same day as death.

All I have is that my father was born 1920 (James Little) in Dumfries area - he married my mother Edna Little (mothers maiden name was also Little) in Dalbeattie in 1956.
My father died in the 1980's in Dumfries
May have to go back to the drawing board as this James Little with Jeanie as mother does not appear to be correct.
Thank you all for your help.

Think I am moving forward - it would appear my father and twin where born in Rerrick Kircudbright - done a seacrch on Scotland People and found a James and John Little born 1920 in this area so hopefully - the father was Hugh Little - is the easiest way to wait for the birth entry to come through before moving onto search for grandfathers details?

I've checked for a Hugh Little marriage 1900-1920 in Kirkcudbrightshire and Dumfriesshire but I don't see one married to a Jeanie. Best wait for the birth cert.

Gadget - You are so kind to check ignore the Jeanie I was on a wrong road orginally - it would appear my grandmothers name was Agnes (not sure of maiden name) married to Hugh Little - would be late 18 goinf into 1900.

Would 1917 Balmaclellan, KKD to an Agnes Wilson suit you
It's on SP so you'll be able to download it.
Hmmm - I have Wilsons from Balmaclellan/Parton/Kells. There are so many of them though
There is a Rerrick one - 1902 to Isabella Davidson if it's not Agnes

Gadget - Timing would be about right but may wait for birth certificates to see what date of marriage is on them - a question - my grandmother was Elizabeth Byers Gibson Little born 1912 Thorthorwald - when my mother Edna Little (1936) was born there was no father and also my uncle Arthur (1933) no father - I think she may have married later as she had two other daughters - what is the easy way to find out ? She had always been around the Dumfries and Galloway area.

The marriages on Scotlands People only go to 1933 so you might need to do a local or Edinburgh search for a later marriage. You could try contacting the Ewart Library Archives:
http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2300
or the Dumfries & Galloway FHS:
http://www.dgfhs.org.uk/
Alternatively, she might show up in the SP death records - do you have an approx date of death.

Thanks Audrey for your Feedback - so far in some aspects I have done well - i.e. My Mothers Mother and Father and Going back - just a few areas as above. Had a laugh at your comment though as you never know what you may find - think that is part of the fun !

Little's not as bad as Wilson, Audrey
When I was 7 or 8, I started my quest for my 2x great grandfather, Robert Wilson. From his gravestone in Wales, I found that he was born circa 1805 in (probably) Dumfriesshire.
I'm now in my 60s but I'm still not sure if I have the correct line for him.
I've managed to find his wife and her line and lots of Canadian cousins and adventures but Robert Wilson will remain an uncertainty

It shows how you can go wrong as I was convinced the James Little with mother Jeanie was my father - until some of you kind people helped and when talking with my mother today was able to get info that helped to establish some more info - have to source info from mum in a round about way as she is a bit cagey about the past - taking into account Audreys comment I am not surprised !!!
