Crow / Crowe family of South Reston / Louth
« on: Thursday 28 May 09 09:41 UTC (UK) »

Hi, I am new to the board from Australia.

I am wondering if anyone is researching the name Crow / Crowe in the South Reston or Louth area.

Family consists of John Edward Crow b approx 1865 who married Ede Thompson before 1891. Children John Thomas abt 1891, Charles Wilfred 1895, Arthur Edward abt 1899, Albert abt 1901 & William abt 1903.

No idea what happened to John Thomas, Arthur Edward, Albert or William. One was meant to have gone to Canada (name unknown). Charles Wilfred immigrated to Australia.

John Edward Crow's parents from my research look to be John Crow abt 1822 and Rachel Thompson abt 1825. John Edward Crow's brother George appears to have married Rachel's sister Sarah Thompson b abt 1818.

Hoping to find connections.

Arthur edward  b mar Q 1899  louth 7a / 561

possible marriage to Elisa B Cram mar q 1924 louth 7a /947

you could check the 1911 census for all - indexes free pay to view details.
also check military - older ones right age for war w1.

Hi Diddy,

Thanks for the input.  I have found the family on 1901 Census and John Edward with his wife Ede Thompson in her parent's house in 1891. From here I appear to be able to go back a bit through the census info.

I had hoped that I may find someone within the extended family. The possible marriage for Arthur Edward to Elisa Cram should help bring me forward in time. I believe my grandfather lost contact with his siblings when he emigrated.

I searched the 1911 Cenus for Ede Crow as this is the most unique name. It gave me the extra brother William Crow born 1903 but John Thomas Crow had left home by that time. I did not find him on the census as John Thomas and of course there were 100s of John Crows.

I will have a look for military service for pops siblings. My grandfather served in the 1st Life Guards from 1915 to 1922. How he came to join them is unknown. I had hoped family may have been able to tell me. I had thought it was a regiment in which gentlemen served but pop appears to be a farmers son.
