I'm helping my friend - Andrew Spracklen- with his family tree, we have successfully got to 1777 with a William Spracklen in in Winterbourne St. Martin, after that there seems to be a few possibilities, any help appreciated Regards Wynford

Have you had a look at the records available on the OPC Dorset site?

1758 Militia List for Winterbourne St. Martin lists 2 Spracklen (Robert & Matthew) and 1 Sprackli/en (William).

The Dorset FHS have transcribed the parish registers; they offer a search service.  Details on http://www.dorsetfhs.org.uk

I have three Andrew SPRACKLENs in my tree who are descended from William SPRACKLEN b. 1777 Winterbourne St Martin.  They are:-

1.  Andrew Derek, son of Derek George.
2.  Andrew M., son of Ernest John (1929-2000)
3.  Andrew John, son of Clarence J.

Is your friend one of these?

I have back to William SPRACKLEN's great great grandparents.  Let me know what information you would like.
