On a recent holiday we took a detour to Ayton Parish Church East Yorkshire.  My husband's family all came from this area and we found quite a lot of monumental inscriptions in the Churchyard.  One of them was quite a puzzle:
"Robert Robinson , son of Elizabeth Robinson of Ayton  - died Dec 7th 1837 age 16.  He was interred in St Andrews Church Yard Scotland"

As far as we know there is no other Scottish connection.

There is no other information on the gravestone and nothing in the Parish Records.  If anyone is in the area I would be so grateful if they could find anything out about this sad youth, buried so far from home.

This is in addition to my previous posting.

After enlarging the pictures taken of the monument in the graveyard in East Yorkshire, it has been noticed that the inscription actually says:
"Robert Robinson son of Jane and William Robinson , who died on Dec 7th 1837 age 46 years.  He was interred in St Andrews churchyard DUNDEE Scotland.

It would seem that I have posted the request for help in the wrong place, it should have been in the DUNDEE section.  My apologies.  Should I re-post it or would the moderator move the querie for me?
