Hi, Does anyone know of the rope ferry that used to exist at Framilode? My grandparents lived on the poultry farm there and my grandfather used to operate the ferry in the 1930's. I am trying to find out the name of the farm which I think they probably rented, but also wondered if anyone knows of any pictures/photos in existence? My grandparents were there between 1930 and 1935 and their surname was Corbett, unfortunately their business venture did not work out due to some kind of bird flu. Any comments or ideas extremely welcomed. Kindest regards Alyson

Alyson, Welcome to rootschat.
Why not email the Local Studies library closest to Framilode and ask them about this? G*8gle for the location of the library-
Someone may come up with the exact info you want but if not, the Libabry may well be your best bet.
Good luck, charlotte

Welcome to RootsChat
A book, published this year, titled "Ferries Of Gloucestershire" by Joan Tucker, includes the Framilode ferry, I don't know how much detail it contains on this particular ferry, however you may be able to get a copy via your local library.

Alyson, You certainly scored with keziah's know how... and if the Library doesn't hold a copy they'd almost certainly get one on interlibrary loan..
