Delaneys of Dunkerrin
« on: Thursday 28 May 09 21:46 UTC (UK) »

My gr. gr. gr. grandfather John Delaney, his wife Margaret Casey and their children John, James, Mary, Eliza, Patrick and Daniel emigrated to Quebec, Canada in 1847. My research indicates that they came from Dunkerrin, Offaly Cty. I have lots of local info, but nothing in Ireland. If anyone can provide some leads It would be greatly appreciated.

The Delaney Family of dunkerrin still live in the village where they run a pub, some of the above names are familar names belonging to that family

Thanks so much for the info. Are you from Dunkerrin? Would you know the name of the pup or how I can get in touch with or get more information about the Delaneys?  Also would you know the name of the local catholic church? Any help  would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

If you look at El Salmons other post you will see they live about 5 miles away

Griffiths shows no Delaney's in the area.

Modern phone book shows a Michael and an Anna at Dunkerrin. Go to
http://www.eircomphonebook.ie/displayhome.ds and put in your quesry to get the phone numbers

If you do phone them, remember that there is a time difference!

I have not looked them all up but this lot (whom I do not recommended) have a Daniel, son of John Delaney, born in 1835 , and a Patrick son of John Delaney b1832
