Birth registrations after 1903 are protected by privacy laws in British Columbia. They changed the law about 5 years ago so births less than 120 years are now protected from the less than 100 years ago that it had been so it will be a number of years before those records are available.

Harriet Purton may still figure in as a cousin or rellie... her being in Chilliwack does seem a bit coincidental...
There was one baptised 1881 Linchdale Buckingham / to parents Leonard Purton and Fanny in case they figure in...
P.s. Jacquie  Cheesy  My dad went from farmer to teacher, then back to farming after the war , then back to teaching...
( he was allergic to the grain dust...or he may have remained farming....teaching meant travelling from teacherage
to teacherage with his new wife & family until he was an established teacher, so not as glamorous or high pay as one might think)

I have an ancestor on an 1850 census who was a teacher, then by 1855, he owned and operated a "fancy goods establishment."  He settled in Toronto in 1855, and as far as I can determine, no one assisted him with the shop.
