Horn's of Insch
« on: Friday 29 May 09 06:09 UTC (UK) »

Hi, I am looking for any info on the Horn family of Insch.  I have a James Horn of Myreton who married Mary Brown of Midtown in 1799 Insch.  I believe James was born in Insch but have not been able to prove, the records are getting a little thin out there.  I know there was a James who lived there and had a George and Robert.  I believe George might have been his father.  My James Horn was born 1769 died 19 Mar 1825 andis buried in Insch.  I would be interested in any help I can get with regards to any of these Horns.  Thanks

ok another record on IGI:

Marriage of james Horn & Mary Brown 10/12/1799 Midtown, Aberdeen.

BUT hisparents given as George E Horn & Elizabeth Shand.

james chr 11/3/1764 Cabrach, Aberdeen.

this is a submitted record and as such should be treated with caution but would fit with your idea of george as father.

Yes I have been to scotlandpeoples and LDS.  On his gravestone it has his date of birth as 1769.  I have checked into the one at Cabrach and I can not verify any of the info other than date of birth and feel the one at Gartly is closer to his date of birth.  I also found a marriage at SP for earlier Horn family in Insch and feel that Insch might be his birth town and I just can't find records.

Paul, don't know if I answered you back or not.  I too am related to James Horn and Mary Brown on Insch.  Do you have any parents for either one?  I am trying to go back one more generation.
