I have traced my family tree back to my great-great-grandfather, WILLIAM ABLETT, born around 1816, who was married to Ellen. The couple had 3 children- William (born 1846 Hull), Mary (born 1859 Hull- later married a James Martin in New Wortley, Leeds) and my great-grandfather Edward, born 1864.

I think the family address was "WILSON'S ROW, MACELL STREET, SCULCOATES".

I have traced the family in the 1871 census, and there is a William Ablett of Macell Street mentioned in the 1834 Voters Register.

I'd be interested in tracing the family further back. I'm in Scotland, and so I've done everything on-line so far. Can anyone advise as to how I would find early 1800s records from that area, and even back to the 1700s?  Would greatly appreciate any help.

I'd also be very interested in hearing of any other parts of this Ablett family tree.
