Hello from Canada!!

I am furthering my Ireland Family research and have stumbled upon your posting in a search of antiqued maps of Yorkshire (go figure!)

Of course, I joined the forum and can now share with you my Ireland Family info.

I have my line of IRELANDS (nearly) completed to 1753 Wold Newton Yorkshire England with the birth of my G-G-G-G-Grandfather MOSES IRELAND.

Don't know if I can help here - but would love to give it a whirl. Micheal may have been a sibling or cousin of my Moses?? or one of the many Georges that followed!!

cheers

Misha,

A very warm welcome to Rootschat.

I would love to compare the information which we each have on the Ireland Family from Wold Newton.

Can you give me some futher information regarding Moses Ireland born in 1753 in Wold Newton.  I have four Moses Irelands in my family tree but none of their years of births matches your Moses'.

The earliest Moses Ireland I have in my family tree is Moses Ireland born 1773 in Wold Newton.

I am sure that there is a connection between our two Ireland families as my earliest Ireland ancestors also came from Wold Newton.

I also have a transcript of Wold Newton Parish Registers.

Looking foward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Good Morning,

Here is what I have about my Moses Ireland.

He was born March 07, 1753 in Wold Newton, Yorkshire, England,
died June 06, 1830 in Bempton, West Yorkshire, England.
Married FRANCES SAWDEN July 31, 1773 in Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.  She was born July 05, 1752 in Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England, and died February 24, 1824 in Bempton, West Yorkshire, England.

He was christened on his 20th birthday -  March 7 1773 - just months before his marriage.

So MAYBE this is your Moses too??? as your notes indicate a Moses BORN the same year as my Moses was Christened (things like that happen in this arena of insanity)

children as follows:

1.     i.      RICHARD3 IRELAND, b. 1774, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
Christening: April 28, 1774, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England
2.   ii.   SUSANNAH IRELAND, b. 1776, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
3.   iii.   GEORGE IRELAND, b. 1778, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England;
      d. March 31, 1847, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
- (This is my first George)
4.   iv.   MARY IRELAND, b. 1779, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England;
     d. November 09, 1824, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
5.   v.   ANN IRELAND, b. 1782, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
vi.   WILLIAM IRELAND, b. 1784, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.
      More About WILLIAM IRELAND:
Christening: August 21, 1784, Weaverthorpe, Yorkshire, England

This is as far back as we have gotten.  One of my uncles and the wife of a cousin and I have, at separate times been on this research.

I've LOVE to get further back than my Moses.

cheers

Misha,

Thank you for supplying me with the information you have regarding Moses Ireland.

Can I ask what the source of your information is as to the christening for Moses in 1778 and also how you know that he was aged 20 at the time?

I have a transcript of Wold Newton Parish registers which covers this period in time and although I can find the baptism of Moses on the 7th March 1773, there is no reference to his age, only that his fathers name was Richard Ireland.

During this period in time there was a Richard Ireland who between 1759 and 1778 had a total of ten children all of whom were baptised in Wold Newton, In fact nigh on one every two years.

This Richard Ireland was my 5 times Great Grandfather.

I also have a transcript of Weaverthorpe Parish Registers which covers this period of time and have seen the marriage between Moses Ireland and Frances Sawden in 1773, but have never been able to make a definate link to my line of the Ireland family.

Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Best Wishes

My pleasure, this is a primary paternal line for me and one that is of high interest to my research.

This research has been conducted by many people over the course of many years. My Great Uncle Garnet began it all well over 45 years ago. Most of the information I have has been handed from his work. My cousin Roger’s wife Teresa picked up the ball some 20 years ago and I started in on the project about 12-14 years now.

Both Teresa and I are members of an Ireland Surname research group which Y-DNA tests for lineage. The research group has members in the UK and they have been instrumental in clarifying some of the Ireland lines which are being researched. As a result of all this and the DNA project, I know this is my line.

The information I have offered here has been connected to parish records, and I have notes on confirmation up to, but not including my Moses. To date, my primary hitch to deepening my line has been this Moses. I haven’t been able to confirm his parentage.

On the note of his christening at 20 – PURE speculation (excitement) on my part. As my current records note he was born 20 yrs prior to marriage and children. Sincerely, after I posted that note, it occurred to me that there could well be document confusion (whacks forehead). However, I am fairly certain that my Moses was married and procreating by 1773 as we have been able to confirm his third child George as a grandparent to me.

I pulled up some old genfiles and noticed that in all cases, my notes will read NAME, SURNAME (FATHERS NAME/GRANDFATHERS NAME) For my Moses the original genfile reads: IRELAND, Moses (RICHARD).

All that to say, you may well have the link resolving the parentage of my Moses in your desk!!

exciting stuff here
