Looking for any information on Crilly's from County Down

I am trying to research my family history but have become stuck.  I have got Thomas Crilly born est 1845 County Down his father Patrick Crilly (Crilly sometimes spelled Crilley) From the 1911 census i discovered he was from County Down but cannot read exactly where. I was wondering if anyone can help or advise me on how to get some more information on his birth, parents and siblings.

Check out this excellent site

or search for Patrick on Griffith Valuation (1850s list of householders and their property for collection of rates)

http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_family_search_form.php.

Once you have established where the family are from, use the first site to see what church records are available.  Since Thomas was born before civil registration you will have to go to the church records to find out more.

Some church records for Co Down are online at Ancestry Ireland website.  It's free to search but costs £4 per entry to see the details, but at least saves a trip to PRONI to look up the records yourself.

If you post a small sample of the record, we could have a go at deciphering the townland (if that is what is recorded).

Reads as "Kilarnick", but can find no such placename in Co Down - closest is Killarn in Newtownards parish.
