Hello and welcome!

it will help if you tell us what you already have about them, with some names and dates.
That will give a starting point for searching, as well as making sure no one wastes their time looking for what you already have!

Lots of people here ready and willing to hunt!

When I lived at Boston I worked with a Tom Arridge Scuffham b12 Jan 1899, one week after my father which is why I remember, he was born in Boston, worked as a train driver, and lived at No.10 Wyberton West Road. He had two children, both of whom I believe are still living. His wife died, and he remarried, but this was a late marriage, both 50+ and there were no children. Hope this helps a little.

Forgot to mention I also knew a Bill (William) Scuffham at Boston who was the Mace Bearer to the Mayor of Boston. I believe he was a retired police officer. Whether he was related to Tom Scuffham I don't know.

Hi IronC,

Birth,
Tom. Arridge. SCUFFAM
March 1899
Boston
7a 434

Having found this I cannot find him on 1901 Census Huh
There is one entry under another surname that I need time to look at.

To find a connection I checked for Scuffam marriages to a Arridge. This is probably Toms grandparents;

Marriage;

William SCUFFAM
June 1861
Boston 7a 602
On same page Jane ARRIDGE

If you leave it with me for a few days i will see what I can connect Smiley

I am certain of Tom Scuffham's birthdate. He was born 12th January 1899 in Boston, one week precisely after my father!

The Census image has John and Kate with a son Tom.A. aged 20. Actual image is hard to read but probably should be 2.

Marriage;
John Thomas SCUFFAM/
John Tom SCUFFAM indexed as both Roll Eyes
December 1898
Boston 7a 895
On same page Kate HARLOCK

Birth;
Tom Arridge SCUFFAM
March 1899
Boston, 7a 434

This would make him 2 by 1901 Census Wink

The 1901 census has John.L. Scupham indexed, it is definitely a T when you look at at it.

1901 Census
214 Clarks Passage
Boston Lincs                        RG13/3044/178/31

John.T. SCUFFHAM, 24, mar, horse shunter for Railways, born Hoberts Bridge, Lincs
Kate, 22,wife, born Leake Lincs
TOM.A. son, born Boston ( says 20, could be 2)

Now to look for John.T. in earlier census Roll Eyes

I suspect that Mrs. Scuffham's maiden name was Arridge. For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the area (like the census transcribers!!) John Scuffham was b Hubbert's Bridge and not as stated!
