William Douch/ Martha Noakes
« on: Friday 29 May 09 16:47 UTC (UK) »

My 6x ggrandfather William Douch was christened 15th February 1704 in Hellingly. He married Martha Noakes 1st May 1733 in Herstmonceux and their son John was born in 1734. It is probable that William died in 1738 although I have no firm evidence , and I should be grateful if anyone can confirm this. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Mimmi

I had a look on Findmypast for you that has fairly good coverage of Sussex burials but unfortunately the only one was a William Douch 18 July 1771 at Herstmonceux.  Possibly a son??

Have you tried the Sussex Online Parish Clerk, http://www.sussex-opc.org/  Herstmonceux has a clerk who might be able to help you

Many thanks, Kerry. Yes I think the William who died in 1771 must be a later generation. I'll contact the opc to enquire if he has any information which might help.

Thanks, again,

Rosemary
