Blidworth baptisms/petty court sessions, does anyone have?
« on: Friday 29 May 09 17:52 UTC (UK) »

My direct ancestor is William Frost baptised (according to the IGI) 16 Jan 1814, the only parent named was Martha Frost. Does anyone have baptisms for Blidworth, Notts, as I want to know if the IGI is incorrect and two parents were present, therefore Martha would only be a Frost by marriage.  If William was illigitimate Im thinking there may have been a court hearing regarding the absent father and money (knowing the parish didnt like putting their hands in their pockets too much!).  Im going to order William's marriage cert tomorrow to see if a father was named, but would LOVE to know who his father was, although I accept its almost impossible.

I see the IGI entry is an extracted record, taken from the actual parish register, it would appear that he was illegitimate as I found this on the IGI

Martha Frost ch. 16.2.1793 Blidworth... father Samuel mother Elizabeth also an extracted record.

Just a cheeky nudge to say, if anyone has marriages on disc or if you're planning to go to the records office, could I have a look up please?  Thomas Frost married Elizabeth Lupton (sp?) on 4 Jan 1733 in Blidworth, is info available on who the bride and groom's parents were?  Or any witnesses?  Thanks!

On pre 1837 marriages, only name of bride and groom, thier status, whether of this parish the date and witnesses are give, no parents or addresses, occassionally you can get lucky and one of the parents are a witness..
