Lost posting
« on: Friday 29 May 09 20:49 UTC (UK) »

Tonight I went into my emails there was notification of a reply on the Zebulum Ayres thread from Keith Sherwood timed at 20.04. This was at 21.15 tonight.I clicked the link to read it, and went straight in, no login etc. required. I am using my netbook and logged out on my main computer yesterday. When I reached the new replies link, there was nothing there under this thread. Where are the problems?

If you'd already read the thread with the latest reply by Keith Sherwood there and then checked new replies there would have been nothing showing under new replies.

That's the one Gadget, I had already found it but was wondering why it had disappeared and the peculiar circumstances tonight, i.e no login required.

If you'd not logged in, you couldn't see new replies. Very odd because I did a search for Keith's posting in the last day and nothing came up.

i finally found it by going through your past posts and went onto the thread and saw it.

Odd  Undecided

When you got the email notification and clicked on the link did that not take you straight to the thread in question?

But you said you clicked the link on the email to read Keith's reply. Therefore it wouldn't show on 'unread replies'.

Are you sure that you had logged out, Roger?

Did you have to log in to come in later?

Redroger- you mentioned 2 computers- is it possible that you had logged off on one (main computer) but not on netbook last time you'd viewed RC which is why you didn't have log in this time?
I am using my netbook and logged out on my main computer yesterday.

Back to other part of your query:
When you got the email notification and clicked on the link did that not take you straight to the thread in question?

Agadhowey, Whilst it is possible I had missed I always make a point of logging off. It did take me straight to the thread.

It did take me straight to the thread.

If you were taken straight to the thread surely that is why nothing then appeared on the 'new replies' list.

Redroger- have we solved your 'problem'? (it's difficult to be sure since you haven't responded to JenB and I re: clicking on email notification link)
