Edmund BIRD c. at Turville?
« on: Saturday 30 May 09 08:59 BST (UK) »

In 1851, Edmund Bird is married to Sarah (nee Judge) and they are living at Lewknor Uphill.
They married at Stokenchurch in 1828, where there are lots of Birds, but Edmund says he is from Turville?

Is there perhaps a c. rec for Edmund at Turville?
 Huh

Hi,

The IGI has 2 submitted christening records:

Edmond Bird  christening 18 Nov 1803  Turville, Buckingham
                      death              1864

Parents: William Bird & Elizabeth Clarke

The second record has same dates but adds spouse Sarah Judge, 12 July 1828, Stokenchurch, Oxford.

Hope that helps,

I am afraid to say that there was more than one Edmund/Edmond Bird?!
It is quite easy to enthusiastically pair up people and then find out that there was a cousin in the next village, with the same name!

Samuel and Ann Bird had a son, Edmond (abt 1809) and Samuel was from Ibstone.
There are other Edmunds around but younger....

Just to muddy the waters further, there were 2 William Birds who married Elizabeths in 1802 (E. Clarke) and 1803 (E. Bird) at Ibstone.

I have the OFHS cd for Stokenchurch and Ibstone, so can access those records, but
I tried to look on the IGI for Turville batch numbers, but only found some marriage records; no c. recs.

I am quite happy to believe that William and Elizabeth (nee Clarke) were Edmond's parents.... maybe the death record is incorrect?

They are a highly confusing, large family, these Birds and they roost in a number of villages in the area. Roll Eyes

Many thanks for looking for Edmund!

Many thanks for your help!
I had forgotten to do an IGI search, as I had checked that there weren't any batch numbers for christenenings at Turvile.

I wish my ancestors had not lived near the border of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and so near to Berkshire?!
I look frantically on my OFHS CDs for a certain village, only to find it was part of Buckinghamshire! I shall have to join BFHS, so that I can access their records...
