Hi All
I have been Tree Hunting for about 4 years now, but have not been able to find birth or christening of my G.G. Grandfather John Leat/ Leate/ Leet born in Bath, Somerset in 1814.
John was a Master Tailor.
He is in the 1851 & 1861 Census's and died in Staffordshire on 28th July 1863.
His parents may have been Charles Leat 1785 Bath, his wife Harriet Ransom 1791 Somerset, they married on St James, bath 1808.
John married Sarah Southern born Moreton in the Marsh, Gloucestershire around 1824/6 not found marriage either, or Sarah's family. Sarah died in O/N/D 1889 in Staffordshire.
First son John born 14th April 1844 in Nottinhamshire,.
As this is a new site to me, I wondered if anyone can come up with some new ideas to find what I am hunting for.

Yes ! it looks like the right family, although date of birth different, so what's new 
I have Charles & Harriet with the rest of the family in an 1842 Census, but by then John would have up and gone.
The family were living at Widcombe Parade, Lyncombe & Widcombe, Bath.
I see you have Leese in your surname intrests, my Grandfather's sister, May Leat born 1889 in Hanley, married an Ernest Leese born 1888 in Hanley, they married in February 1908, any connection ??

Hi Millie,
My Aunt Mary Scalley married Ernest Leese 1916, his parents were George and Elizabeth,he died in the first world war......my lot all seem to come from Longton area...I put them on hold when I saw how many Leeses there were in Stoke on trent..

John Southern age 65 can't read his occ' looks like damper?
