Can anybody tell me why Grays Thurrock Parish Registers 1674-1848 are restricted from circulation by Family Search.org. What would be the reason I cannot order the film in?

The same thing happened to me when I wanted to order the Mucking parish registers on fiche from the Essex Record Office.
The explanation I got was that the vicar of the parish church wouldn't give permission to have any of the registers copied. So, I could only view the originals when I went to Chelmsford.
Quite frustrating, but I suppose they had their reasons.

Might be a good idea to send a "please explain" letter/email to the incumbents of parishes which refuse to allow their PRs to be put on microfiche or disk, the ERO have their contact details I'm sure. Perhaps they are afraid the Mormons will get hold of copies! It's almost criminal because eventually, like all things, those PRs will deteriorate through handling/age and disintegrate

Thank you all for your replies. Will try that link thank you Barry. Can't see any good reason for restricting films of parish records. We die hards will plod on. Thanks again.

Hi,
Have just had a look at that link. Would love to go to the library, probably has lots of information I am looking for, but unfortunately I am in Australia. It is much easier to do family research if you are in UK.
Many thanks for your reply.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to post a huge thank you to Barry1936 for taking the time and trouble to look up these registers for me and all the extra information he provided. A true rootschatter.
