Here is another BENNISON family that I am attempting to confirm.
I am a descendant of the BENNISON and GALES line

around Whitby is the above a coincidence.

Dear Shipwright23, This is my first post on RootsChat, so I'm not sure of procedures re posts. You have the Gales as far back as 1450 and I should be v. grateful for all you have before 1754, when Wm Gales m. Isabel Bennison at Lythe. I can’t find William’s previous history.
On the marriage Allegation the words ‘and upwards’ follow the age stated – in William’s case 40. So there is no indication of his actual age.
There is a Wm Gales on IGI b.abt. 1702 at Whitby, died abt.1779. This entry is in small case, which means it was made by a member of the Latter Day Saints, not by one of the professional genealogists the LDS used, and so LDS recommend that these entries are treated with caution (as, I have been advised, should all IGI entries) and be confirmed where possible by other sources.
There is also a Wm Gales on IGI b.abt.1713 at Hutton-Rudby, Yorkshire. A Wm Gales m. a Jane Bowes 21 Nov 1738 at Stokesley, Yorkshire. A Jane Bowes was b.abt. 1717 at Stokesley. A Jane Bowes was c.2 Nov 1721 at Stokesley, father Thomas ‘Bows’. (This could be one and the same since very often baptisms took place some time after birth.)
Births: A Jane Gales was c.12 Oct 1742 at Stokesley to Jane Gales
A Wm Gales was c.24 Feb 1746 at Stokesley to Wm Gales
(The child died 30 July 1747)
A Wm Gales was c.26 Dec 1749 at Stokesley to William
Gales.
You have the Gales at Scruton, Bedale, Whitby. Have you seen records that definitely tie Wm of Scruton to the 1754 m. to Isabel? I've been stuck on this for ages, so I would love to get clarification.
Christopher Vasey m. Jane Booth Gales 24 Nov 1841 at Middlesbrough. Are these your family?

Hello Crabby, I'm listing below what I have on Bennison. Those I haven't researched for myself I've gained from members of Genes Reunited or other family groups, which of course I can't verify, but at least it gives you a basis from which to do further research. I shall put the letters GR after those from these sources.
William Bennison b.1630 at Lythe (GR), children: Isabelle b.1654, Lythe and *William b.1655, Lythe (both GR). (On IGI an Isabelle Bennison died 20 Oct 1654)
*Wm Bennison's children: John b.1679, Lythe, Wm b.1696, Lythe, **Cuthbert b.1697, Lythe, Anne b.1700, Lythe, Mary b.1702, Lythe, John b.1707, Lythe (all GR).
**Cuthbert Bennison m.Isabel Porrett, (b.1714), 6 Jan 1736 at Lythe: children: Wm b.1736, ?Mickleby, ***Henry b.1743, ?Mickleby, Jane, b.1746, ?Mickleby, Isabel, b.1749, ?Mickleby, (m.5 Feb 1774 to Peter Jackson at Whitby). (All children dates from IGI)
***Henry Bennison m.7 Jun 1777 to Margaret Jackson at Whitby: children: Isabella, c.3 Feb 1778, Margaret, c.20 Jun 1780 (m. William Gales (b.1781) 10 Mar 1803 at Whitby), Henry, c.abt.20 Jun 1781, ****William, c.14 Dec 1782, Catherine, b.8 Nov 1789, (all children b. at Whitby and all from IGI).
{Margaret Jackson died and Henry then m. Mary Craven 1 Jun 1800 - no children (from IGI)}.
****William Bennison m.6 Sep 1808 Hannah Flintoff at Whitby: no children. Hannah died 1819 (GR). Wm then m. Jane Harrison 7 Oct 1820 at Whitby (from IGI): children: Margret c.29 Dec 1820, Hannah, c.4 Feb 1823, *****Henry, c.abt.1825, (all children at Whitby and all from IGI).
*****Henry m.Jun qtr 1847 at Whitby to Harriet Hodgson (from FreeBMD): children: William Henry, b.abt.1849, Whitby, and Hannah Jane, b.abt.1850, Whitby (both from 1851 census).

Hello again Crabby,
I forgot to mention that you have Isaac Gales (b.1809) m. to Elizabeth? b.1812. I can't find anything on Isaac beyond his birth. However, there is a family of Gales in Littlehampton, Sussex, although I can't trace a connection. Do you have evidence that these are our Gales?
