hi looking for the weirs who went to ireland from glasgow in 1870 thomas weir and wife elizabeth hughes children, most of them being jewelers james b 1872,mary 1873,john 1877,thomas b 1875,richard ?,william 1880,george 1887,phyllis 1883, andrew 1892. i have found most of these in the 1911,but what iam looking for is living descendant of these people, as we are related from thomas weir b 1846 brother james in glasgow b 1840. thanks for any help on these names karen

Hello Karen,
Presumably you know that Weir & Sons (founded in 1869) is one of Dublin's biggest jewellers with a huge shop on the prestigious Grafton Street.

Yes you are connected. Weir and Sons produced a detailed booklet in 1994 decscribing the history of the business and the family. It is an excellent production and I hope you manage to get a copy as all your questions will be answered therin. I was researching a relative that working in a jewellers in Grafton Stree but was not able to pin her down to that shop as no personnel records for time in question,

Weir and Son of Grafton St produced a commemorative booklet in 1994 outlining history of company from 1869. You will have to ask them directly for a copy as it was their own publication and 'not for sale'.

hi anyone can help with finding some one doing this family line, as i have written to the company weirs & son jewelers and have had no reply. sad i was hopping that was gona lead me back to my lost line in glasgow.
