Hullo, If you buy the marriage cert for Edward and Elizabeth it will give you the name of their fathers of both of them and his occupation.

Are you sure you have the right Edward Armstrong?
According to the IGI Edward married Harriet PROUT, 21 Sep 1846, at St Giles Cripplegate. Can't see them in 1851 as yet but they are in Albert Road, Stepney in 1861 - RG9/299 87 17. He was born 1825 in Holborn.
Elizabeth STOCKER married David PUTTEE, on 20 Sep 1846 at St Giles Cripplegate.
Also can't find Henry and Elizabeth in 1851. Is he the Henry Edward ARMSTRONG who married Rose SKINNER, 16 Jul 1874 at St Peters Brighton.

Do you have Henry's birth certificate, to confirm Elizabeth's maiden name? You may find Henry and Elizabeth have been indexed in 1851 under Elizabeth's name (either because the couple married later after Henry's birth, didn't marry, or because she was staying her with parents or other relatives and the surname got dittoed down).

Quoting the whole of my post and sticking new data in it is a bit confusing -
So re your remarks:-
So what age is Harriet?[ Does it matter I cannot see any connection to your Henry - the EA she married was a rug weaver
No only in 1861 I did see that an Elizabeth Armstrong was 34 with son Henry 12yrs. So there is a EA marriage to an Elizabeth "unknown" to be found. Sadly doesn't seem as though she had any other children whose Birth cert might be found
No, just a 1905 marriage cert showing Ed. as Father Occ Indoor Serveant. perhaps he can be found in previous census. So clearly not the one who married Harriet as he was a rug weaver per 2 census. I'll post this and then go look for EA servant in census I suppose 1851
So where to from here?? Buy 1874 marriage cert as may have more about EA and the witnesses may help - marriage witnesses may reveal all manner of links
Can anyone look at the St Giles details please?? The marriages at St Giles 1846 seem to have nothing to do with Henry and his parents

Hi thanks for your reply 8 June .... I accidentlyally deleted off my page after I printed it out but have now located you. I seems I have been going up the wrong branch, so will backtrack to Henry Armstrong / Rose Skinner marriage at St Peters, Brighton 16 July 1874, and see if I can get fathers info from there. The Edward Armstrong [Father] may have been in the Brighton area all the time! There is no other info you can suggest?? Thanks Ian
